Welcome to HI: Overview

A welcoming community
There is nothing that we would like more than to share our special congregation with you. We’re the shul where the rabbi still makes sure to remind congregants to greet a visitor at their side or in Kiddush.

We pride ourselves on the diversity of our community: among the young and old, men and women, those who are experienced and those new to observance. We welcome the perspective that these diverse groups bring to our shul, and encourage honest and open discussion across a wide range of issues in modern orthodoxy. And through all this, we endeavor always to deepen our spiritual lives through prayer, Torah study and observance, through music, and through communal life and social action both within and beyond our community.

Whether you’re a young couple from the West Side, Riverdale or Teaneck, a downsizing empty-nester from Queens or Rockland, a searching Jew from upper Westchester – shalom and bruchim habaim – welcome!
